The Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform (KKP) Accelerator automates operations of thousands of Kubernetes clusters across multi-cloud, on-prem, and edge environments to empower your team to reliably run Kubernetes in production.
This Accelerator helps you implement state-of-the-art Kubernetes operations using KKP’s unique “Kubernetes-in-Kubernetes” architecture. Our experienced architects provide strategic and operational guidance at all stages—from architecture design to production rollout—ensuring a seamless implementation that avoids common pitfalls.
The Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform Accelerator covers five engagement phases:
Explore -> Deploy -> Enablement -> Testing -> Touchdown
1. Explore
Our architects engage with your team to review your specific use cases (Edge, Multi-Cloud, or Bare Metal) and align your requirements with the technical deployment of Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform.
Typical Activities
- Kickoff workshop to define business goals and technical constraints.
- Architecture review of the existing infrastructure (Cloud, vSphere, OpenStack, or Bare Metal).
- Assessment of multi-tenancy and compliance requirements.
Deliverables
- List of architectural requirements (Master/Seed cluster topology).
- Documentation of PoC scope and implementation roadmap.
- Network and storage prerequisite definition.
2. Deploy
During this phase, our architects work hands-on to ensure that the Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform is successfully deployed and integrated into your environment.
Typical Activities
- Installation of the KKP Master and Seed clusters.
- Configuration of Identity Providers (OIDC, LDAP/AD) for centralized authentication.
- Integration with underlying infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, vSphere, etc.).
- Setup of essential add-ons (monitoring, logging, backup).
Deliverables
- Fully operational Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform setup.
- Configuration of “Kubernetes-in-Kubernetes” control planes.
- Documentation of the specific installation and configuration details.
3. Enablement
In the enablement phase, we focus on knowledge transfer, handing over the KKP installation to your platform engineering team and ensuring they are ready for Day 2 operations.
Typical Activities
- Workshops on managing the KKP dashboard and API.
- Deep dive into KKP architecture: User Clusters, Seed Clusters, and Control Plane isolation.
- Training on upgrading clusters, managing node deployments, and blueprinting.
- Guidance on using KubeVirt for managing VMs alongside containers (if applicable).
Deliverables
- Handover of cluster configuration & administrative credentials.
- Operational runbooks for common tasks (scaling, upgrades, troubleshooting).
- Concept papers for long-term multi-cluster management strategies.
4. Testing
Our architects work closely with your team to validate the platform’s resilience and performance before production traffic is applied.
Typical Activities
- Execution of comprehensive testing against the PoC requirements (Functional, Load, and Usability).
- Verification of High Availability (HA) capabilities and self-healing mechanisms.
- Review of centralized logging (Prometheus/Grafana/Loki stack), metrics, and capacity planning.
- Disaster recovery drills (Backup/Restore scenarios).
Deliverables
- List of performed tests and validation results.
- Performance benchmark report for User Cluster control planes.
- Security and compliance validation report.
5. Touchdown
Our architects present the final results of the setup and engage with your team to identify the immediate next steps for the production rollout.
Typical Activities
- Touchdown workshop with executive summary and presentation of results.
- Review of any outstanding items or optimizations.
- Identification of future scaling needs (e.g., adding Edge locations).
Deliverables
- Final Project Presentation.
- List of prerequisites for Production Go-live.
- Strategic roadmap for future platform expansion.
